The Last Word

The wind has something to say
and demands to be heard.
Argumentative bursts of intensity.
Lengthy sentences of many words,
pitch increasing.
A series of emphatic climaxes.
The dispute not fully resolved,
there follows softer mumbles —
defiant parting comments
whispered under the breath.
