Pressure Wave

Reading time: 1 min

How can a poem function like a sound?

It must be an event of two things:
a relation, a rubbing of
surfaces wrapping substances;
folded textures unfurling
to throb as peaks and troughs
through impressionable air,
radiating resonances.

A poem happens when meanings rub,
surface to surface,
sending remixed signals.

A poem happens when meanings collide,
displacing particles,
shaping densities and lacunas.

A poem happens when meanings scatter,
bouncing off certainties,
forming echoes and iterations.
